Supporting Information Requirements

UNIT 02 LO1 1.1

I have used a range of research tools, methods and skills. For example I used both primary and secondary research as part of our focus group PowerPoint as well as using a range of different secondary research tools including different websites, YouTube videos and even books to get the information I needed. I used a range of skills as part of this project which include group working, camera operation, time management, written and vocal skills including pre-production planning and directing.

UNIT 02 LO2 2.1

The importance of carrying out both primary and secondary research is vital, secondary research gives you an overall idea on the project, as well as others ideas and opinions, whilst primary research lets you explore you own ideas and opinions, and make your own views on your selected project. I used secondary research in this project to form an understanding of the different music video genres whilst I used primary research to have a go and making something that would typically be seen in idea 1, made on after effects and saw how achievable this idea would be, or rather unachievable.

UNIT 02 LO3 3.2

I think the effectiveness of the design and research tools I used for this project to develop ideas for my production were really helpful. For example something I did as part of the design research was watching others music videos (of the selected genres) and comparing them to how I wanted my music video to watch. For example I found narrative music videos such as Adore You - Harry Styles, but I found that rather that narrative music videos following the lyrics they tend to use metaphors and not going exactly to the lyrics but rather with mine, I used the lyrics more as stage directions almost for the characters to act out.

UNIT 03 LO2 2.2

Part of my careers research for this project included researching different skills and the typical day certain job roles had. I chose director and director of photography. I used this research to find out how I should go about directing when I'm on set filming, for example I found out that the director does a lot more than just directing the actors when they're on set. They are also a major part when it comes to things like location scouting and doing all of the pre-production. I think this furthered my creative media development and help me understand the working practices of the job roles I selected.

UNIT 03 LO3 3.1

I have found organisation for this project especially hard. I think because of the amount of work I've had to do but I never really managed to make a proper plan or organised idea about how I was going to do things. I went off the brief's smaller deadline dates, and more crammed everything in before then. In the next project I hope to make a to-do list style plan for everything I've got to do to make the work more manageable and less stressful for myself. I used the brief a lot during this project to insure I had all aspects covered on my website to make sure I pass and don't get a referral.

UNIT 03 LO3 3.2

I have demonstrated consideration and professionalism in this project when working with others. One of the major examples of this is back in week 6 and 7, where I decided that the current idea we had been working on wasn't very achievable nor would it look great as we don't have much money to spend on this project. This is where I came up with another idea; that is a lot more achievable and no where near as expensive. I presented this idea to my group in a professional way, taking into consideration that the other idea was good - but not great. But with my idea it could be great and to a lot more peoples taste. This is where my group shut me down and told me my idea wasn't any good and that idea 1 was much better, where I asked 'what could I do to make it better?' and they told me that I couldn't. We held out the focus groups and idea 2 (my idea)  got all of the votes and was the project we ended up doing.
